Biology and Nutritional Indices of the Fall Army Worm <i>Spodoptera Frugiperda</i> (J E Smith) on Maize

Lifecycle, progressive growth of larval head capsule, and nutritional indices Spodoptera frugiperda (J E Smith) on maize (Co-H6) were studied at the Department Agricultural Entomology, TNAU, Coimbatore during 2018-19. Incubation, total larval, pupal periods observed as 2-3, 13-20, 7-11 days, respectively. The lifecycle male female was 33-46 35-47, width to be 0.34, 0.60, 0.89, 1.32, 1.86, 2.36 mm from first sixth instars, Linear regression analysis showed a significant relationship between instars capsule (R2=0.0979); geometric progression ratio 1.48. Nutritional also for third fifth instar plants. Consumption index (CI) approximate digestibility (AD) increased with age, while efficiency conversion ingested food (ECI) digested (ECD) inversely related age.
